Non-citizens and non-residents of Australia are allowed to be married in Australia provided the Notice of Intended Marriage is lodged with me (the celebrant) within the required time frame (one month prior to service). It must be signed and witnessed by an Australian Diplomatic Officer, Australian Consular Officer, employee of the Commonwealth or Australian Trade Office or a Notary Public in your country.
You must then bring your original documents and your overseas passports with you so these can be sighted by me prior to the ceremony taking place.
If either of you have been married before I will also need to sight the original divorce papers or death certificate. I request that you email me copies of these documents but emphasise that the ceremony cannot go ahead until you have signed the appropriate paperwork and I have sighted the original documents.
Everything else for your ceremony can be completed via email!
